Happy Easter!

On Good Friday we had an Easter Egg Hunt at church with our small group. The kids were very excited to see some real ducks there, but my child did not want to get too close to them (definitely takes after me!). Then, he hunted eggs (they were scattered all over the grass, so there was not too much "hunting" to do). That night, we got to dye eggs with Beau for the first time. For as long as I can remember growing up, my family always went to my grandparents house on Good Friday night and we would dye Easter eggs together. We have not done this since Beau was born, so we decided to restart the tradition this year. He LOVED it!!! I was nervous with the colors and eggs and potential spills that could take place, but it ended up being so fun! He took his Easter eggs to my Aunt Betsy's on Easter to show everyone and he and his cousin Jenna cracked them all open. (under Daddy's supervision).

Easter Egg Time

On Saturday night, we made resurrection cookies. I found this recipe online that goes over the ingredients and ties it into the Resurrection story with Bible verses. The recipe called for nuts, but we substituted chocolate chips instead. I think he got a little bit of the meaning of Easter this year. He knew that the cookies were empty (hollow) Sunday morning and that meant the tomb was empty.
The Cookies before I put them in the oven
Rodney telling Beau about Jesus being put in the tomb and having it sealed

The oven "sealed" shut like the tomb....can you guess which piece Beau put on the oven door?

Sunday morning we went to our 8 am church service and it was packed out (for the early service!). It was such an amazing service and we are so thankful for our church. I asked Beau what he learned in the nursery and he said "God was taken away by some mens (everything is plural to him) and the peoples were sad." Then, I asked him if Jesus came back and everyone was happy and he said "Um, I don't know Mom. I was talking to James (his buddy) during the movie." Well, at least he got the first part!

Our Easter "basket" we gave Beau...it has no candy because he got 4 other baskets from my aunts, mom, and cousin filled with yummy goodies and treats for him!

We also celebrated Rodney's birthday on Easter night with my family. (His birthday is not until later in April but we tried to take advantage of having the whole family already together in one spot). Aunt Betsy made an Easter bunny birthday cake for Rodney that Beau already ate a piece of on Easter night. He saw Aunt Patti put the cake in our car Easter night and Monday morning he wanted to eat it for breakfast. Well, my mom ate the rest of the cake Sunday night, so we did not have it anymore. We just told Beau it was all gone and he kept saying "Aunt Patti taked the cake and put it in my car. I saw her." This child does not forget anything!!! Especially when it comes to sweet treats.

Homemade PlayDough

We were out of playdough a few weeks ago (because it had been left out for several days and dried up into little crumbly pieces). So, I found an easy recipe online and we made some. It just required flour, salt, and water (and food coloring). So easy, but a little messy.

The playdough I made got very gooey after being played with for 10 minutes or more. So, I stuck it in the fridge to firm up and let him play with another color that was already pretty firm.

Nothing to do with playdough....we are a tad bit obsessed with these orange goggles...he wants to wear them at all times! (they go with a leaf blower he got for Christmas). Check out his hair when he wakes up in the morning....No amount of water or combing helps at all!!
