Update

Beau has only been able to play with 2 of his big toys that he got for Christmas. We are saving the rest for him to play with when he gets tired of these toys. Also, we are downsizing to a sweet, tiny house and don't have room to have all of the toys out at one time. We are downsizing so that I can stay at home with Beau after May when I finish teaching my 5th graders. This Christmas break has been great so far and it makes me look even more forward to the days when I no longer have to work.....Even if this break has been filled with 2 baby teeth coming in, Beau having a cold, Beau passing his cold to Mom, and Santa coming through our neighborhood on a fire truck Christmas Eve night at 10:45 pm! Beau was not a fan of that at all!!

As of yesterday, we are the proud owners of 2 homes....once again! This is the 3rd home we have owned in the year 2007. Sounds crazy, but we decided to sell our townhouse to upgrade to a family home, then I realized I wanted to stay at home with Beau, so we downsized to a smaller family home. We are praying that our current house sells soon, and then we will move into our new home.

Here are a few pictures of Beau playing with his new toys:

Merry Christmas

Today was Beau's first Christmas.....to him it was pretty much like any other day. He loved seeing all the family and getting new presents too. Too us, this Christmas took on a whole new meaning. Having a child changes your perspective on so many things, one of them is understanding on a new level how much God loves us. There were many nights when Beau was a newborn when he woke up crying in the middle of the night. We would go and rock him and while we were doing that, I would look at a picture that was hanging up in our hallway of Jesus. It is a picture that Rodney gave me as his wedding gift to me....it is "Smiling Jesus" that a man in our church painted a few years ago. Looking at that picture always gives me comfort knowing that Jesus is right here with us and that the Lord is watching out over us. But, holding our son, looking at that picture, I could not imagine how much the Lord loved His son, but loved us even more to give up His son for us. This Christmas we are so thankful for our son, family, friends, church, and for our Savior.

Here are a few pics of Christmas morning......

Beau now has lots of new toys and clothes to play with. He also had his first taste of wrapping paper at Aunt Betsy's house. We were opening gifts and Rodney put his finger in Beau's mouth and pulled wrapping paper off the roof of his mouth. Yummy! Beau must have asked Santa for his 2 bottom teeth for Christmas because he had the first one and is currently working on the 2nd one.

Fun Times

This week was very exciting for us because Beau cut his first tooth! It was one of his bottom teeth and it came through with a little fussiness and lack of appetite...but nothing as bad as I had imagined it might be. It is so funny when he tries to eat our fingers now because he actually bites us....the tooth may be little, but it is sharp!

Beau also has really started flipping over this week. He has been able to roll for a while, but was not too interested. I attributed this to Beau rolling off our couch when he was 5 weeks old (while Mom was sitting next to him) and getting rushed to Children's ER....he was fine, but I do not think that I will ever recover from it! Anyway, he is flipping from front to back and back to front all the time now. He just gives a big smile every time he flips himself over. What a cutie!

We were cleaning up in Beau's room the other day and I got out his activity gym....we were getting ready to put it in the attic because he was never too fond of it......Well, it is now his favorite thing to play in, besides the exersaucer. Here are a few pictures of him in his newborn gym....He is almost busting out of it!

His favorite move is to wrap his legs around the arc and try to do a flip

Feeding himself the bottle.....He has been doing this for a while, but it is so hard to get a picture of it!

Santa Party

Saturday night, our friends had a "Santa Party." We heard Santa's reindeer outside and then Santa came inside with gifts for all the girls and boys. Santa surprised Beau with a rattle and he loved it! Beau's bib said "I Love Santa," but it is hard to believe that from the way Beau stared Santa down!

Santa said Beau was a big boy and would be even heavier next year!

Elf Yourself

Our friends Jenny and Michelle emailed us an "Elf Yourself" website. I laughed so hard at theirs that Rodney and I decided to make our own "King Elf Yourself" video. Click on

Lots of Changes

Well, the past week has been full of changes for the King Family. The most fun change is that Beau has started to eat baby food. He loves sweet potatoes, but has not been so excited about squash.....we will see how the carrots go! He is like a little bird opening his mouth up to get every bite of cereal and sweet potatoes that we feed him.

A not so fun change was me going back to work. Monday was my first day back in the classroom. The only thing keeping me going is knowing that I can quit in May and be a stay at home Mom until Beau is in school. My first day back at work had a rough start. Over the weekend I cried off and on the whole weekend...poor Rodney! Sunday afternoon ,after I cried through church because they showed a video clip of baby Jesus and it reminded me that I had to leave my baby, Rodney and I watched "The Ron Clark Story". It is a great film about a teacher who went to Harlem and changed the lives of his class because he cared. I think Rodney thought it would help me realize my purpose for the rest of the year......it didn't work. I left to go to work without a tear Monday morning and I was so proud. Beau was doing great with his grandmother and I knew we would all be okay. Until, I had to get my classroom key from my Principal. He asked how I was doing and then I lost it. I cried and cried and cried and cried. He was so sweet and let me skip our Monday faculty meeting after school because he knew I wanted to be home with my baby. Working outside the home will be rough, but I know it is only for a short season.
